I just searched for "Text to speech macintosh" and came across a few audio clip examples, and they sound as horrible as you describe (like speaking into a tin bucket...underwater)
But take my dev site here https://devj4.applecrossanglican.org/in ... nformation then turn on Text to Speech, and click any of the paragraphs - the site should read back what is on screen in the "English Lady accent"![:)]( "Smiley")
